The Tonkawa Indians originally inhabited this area, but the Mexican government granted the land to superior judge Thomas Jefferson Chambers in 1835. During the Texas revolution, Chambers used the land as security to recruit soldiers and buy materials. The land was patented or sold by 1940 to eight owners. Judge Elijah Sterling Clark built the first home in 1851, earning the area's name: Judge's Hill.
Today, Judge's Hill is the perfect alternative to the busy downtown scene, but close to The Capitol, University of Texas and local attractions. As a resident, you'll savor the "neighborhood feel" and appreciate the modern conveniences that make this one of Austin's best communities.
